Training for local food producers

A series of free-to-attend courses have been arranged as part of our strategy to assist local food related businesses to get more customers and become more profitable. Places are limited so if demand exceeds supply we may have to restrict the courses to attendees who live/work in the CVLLP area.

Tender for construction of trackway

The Churnet Valley Living Landscape wishes to appoint a contactor to design and construct a limestone aggregate trackway of approximately 800m length for use by pedestrians and ATV.

The Route runs across the top of a wooded slope at the edge of farmland pasture. The pasture is gently sloping and water runs off across the path line. The route meanders in and out of the wooded area and the ground has banks and slopes.

Walls & Hedges

The Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership has organised a number of Dry Stone Walling and Hedge Laying events for 2015. All events are run by qualified and highly skilled instructors and the walls and hedges have been identified to offer a wide range of learning opportunities, experience and, hopefully, fun.

Nominate a special wall

People in north Staffordshire are being asked to nominate special dry stone walls in the area that they believe need to be rebuilt and protected.

During 2011 the Churnet Valley Landscape Character Assessment identified the loss of traditional boundary features, such as dry stone walls and laid hedges, as one of the serious threats to the quality of the landscape. The Churnet Valley Living landscape Partnership, with support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, are looking for special walls in the valley where they can run training events so that local people can learn to look after their own walls.
