The Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership is enabling a portfolio of projects to create long term environmental and social benefits for the Churnet Valley, Staffordshire. The vision of the CVLLP is to enhance, both physically and in the minds of our people, the Churnet Valley as something to actively celebrate and enjoy.

The CVLLP programme is focussing on some of our most treasured landscapes and our unique heritage, supporting communities and organisations with local initiatives to boost the conservation, management and knowledge of our natural landscape and built heritage.

The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) announced support of £1.89 million for the Churnet Valley through HLF's Landscape Partnership (LP) programme in March 2012. Work on the four year programme commenced in October 2012.

Bridge 70

Bridge 70 is the only remaining intact original bridge on the Uttoxeter Canal. The bridge was built around 1809 and used as part of the navigable canal until 1849. Since closure the bridge had become hidden by increasingly dense woodland but continued to server a purpose as water still flows underneath it. Public footpaths 40 and 43 run over the bridge.
