After a lot of murky wet weather the sun came out and so despite the mud I took a short walk from Cheddleton, along the canal to Consall Forge, via a wander around chase wood, then up the steps (rather tiring) and over the fields to Consall.

October comes and with it varied weather, often cold and wet, so butterflies, bees and other insects are on the look out for a spell of warm sunshine as they fill up on food supplied by late flowering plants.

Been very busy lately but made a bit of time to go to Froghall, a little walk and a coffee and scone in Hetty's Cafe. Lovely heron, everywhere beautiful shades of green. Couple of hours of peace.

Walks in February can remind you of winter but a short walk from Cheddleton to Consall along the canal and back along roads was full of bright green and suggested that spring was coming.
