This year’s initial moth traps at Coombes valley are far from sparse – containing a selection of moths, crane flies, and beetles.
Elephant hawk moths are always attention grabbing, and this gorgeous little Small Elephant Hawk (Deilephila porcellus) was no different. His soft, stubby body is wonderfully complemented by the elegant addition of white legs and antenna, and the bright pinks in his patterning contrasting the mustardy tones.
