It’s invasive species week.
Did you know that many invasive plants in Britain were originally introduced as ornamental pond or garden plants? #BePlantWise - never dump plants, or allow them to escape, into the wild.
Japanese Knotweed is one of these species and is one of the most costly to remove. It is found in the Churnet Valley, although thankfully not on the same scale as Himalayan Balsam. If you see this plant in the Churnet Valley you can help to record it using a free app called ‘PlantTracker’ by Natural Apptitude, available for iphone and android devices.
