Let me introduce myself…
My name is Ian Kynaston and I am the new practical projects officer for the CVLLP. As part of my new job I'll be taking the volunteer flying squad out and about just like Richard Whiting has been doing for the last few years.
The last couple of weeks I’ve been taking the group to Rod Wood near Bradnop where we’ve been erecting a fence around the valuable wet woodland habitat. This is to keep the cattle, which graze the wet meadows in order to maintain their diversity, out of the woods where they can do more harm than good. The site is steep and the ground is rough but the volunteers have showed no hesitation in getting stuck right in. It really is great to work with such an enthusiastic group of people.
I’m looking forward to taking the group to more sites and cracking on with new and exciting projects across the valley so I’ll continue to post about it in the upcoming weeks. I’ll also be posting about the Churnet Valley Veteran Tree project, so watch this space!
