Preparing for the tourism season

This is the time of year when our member businesses are preparing for the coming tourism season. Our members include any small or micro business that benefits from tourism, which is wider than just accommodation providers. A good number of visitors have been here this week enjoying half term, which acts as a reminder to get organised for the sunnier months ahead.

A lot of businesses in the Churnet Valley have benefitted from the tourism generated by Alton Towers. But the last couple of years, with the reduction in visitor numbers and reduced opening times, local businesses that rely on tourism spend have needed to think more widely about how to market themselves. We all know that there is plenty to appeal to visitors to the Churnet Valley other than the theme park. The walking is out of this world, our pubs and tea rooms are delightful and there are some amazing creative businesses tucked away here. So we are actively supporting this site so that we can encourage sustainable tourism and promote our members. Please do all take advantage of the opportunity to promote your business for free! That sort of offer doesn't come round every day so make the most of it! (A big thank you to the CVLLP and Heritage Lotter Fund!)

Please take a moment to sign up to our website spdta.org.uk to receive notification of our meetings. We are about to organise a meeting in the next few weeks.
