Anyone who would like the best possible view of the Lafarge Cauldon quarry can now do this in comfort, thanks to the company’s quarry team building a new viewing platform.
Lafarge Cauldon’s quarry team has built a wooden shelter so visitors can easily access the platform, by exiting the A52 near Rue House Farm (nr Cauldon Lowe) and walking along the footpath at the side of the tree planting to the clearing where it overlooks the quarry. A display board showing the panoramic view has also been located here and an information board will be erected in the coming months.
Quarry Manager Adam Wells, said: “This has been a long held dream of mine to erect a viewing platform here. It is such a beautiful location and has great views over the quarry. This has been built for the community so anyone is free to walk up here and use it at their leisure.”
Cauldon Cement plant, part of LafargeHolcim, produces approximately 1m tonnes of cement per annum. The plant employs around 150 staff, most of whom live within the local area.
