LAFARGE CAULDON SUPPORTS LIFE-SAVING DEFIBRILLATOR FOR CAULDON COMMUNITY
The Cauldon Lowe community now has extra peace of mind should anyone suffer a cardiac arrest - a new defibrillator has been installed in the village, thanks to funding for the electrical installation from the Lafarge Cauldon cement plant. The defibrillator was bought with money donated by local businesses, including JCB and Alton Towers, with the fundraising organised by Cotton Parish Councillor Cllr John Allerton and supported by SMDC (Staffordshire Moorlands District Council) Cllr Mike Worthington.
The new defibrillator is located at The Cross Inn, in the village of Cauldon Lowe. Cllr John Allerton from Cotton Parish Council said: “We are grateful for the support of local businesses, including Lafarge Cauldon, Alton Towers and JCB. Without their help, we would not be able to buy and install this vital piece of life saving equipment.” Martin Bains, Plant Manager at Lafarge Cauldon, said: “We were only too pleased to get involved to ensure the defibrillator could be professionally installed and working as soon as possible. This equipment is designed to save lives and it is great to have it within our local community.”
The new publicly accessible defibrillator will give a high-energy electric shock to someone suffering from a cardiac arrest. It could then restore a more stable heart rhythm and play an important part in saving somebody’s life.
Training sessions are being offered to the local community over the coming weeks.
