CUCT talk about the Uttoxeter Canal

The Caldon & Uttoxeter Canals Trust recently hosted a very successful talk at JCB Lakeside Club, where around 80 people filled the room to hear an illustrated presentation about recent progress on the Uttoxeter Canal. This included updates on the restoration of Bridge 70, laying of a section of towpath and reinstatement of five mileposts, which were all part of the HLF-funded Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership, as well as updates from the volunteer team which is carrying out additional works in the Crumpwood area, between Alton and Denstone.

The Trust also described their objectives for the next few years, which include continuing works in the Crumpwood area and plans to improve additional sections of towpath.

Very positive feedback was received about the work done so far and a number of new volunteers came forward expressing a wish to become involved with the project. If you would like to know more about the restoration of the Uttoxeter Canal, visit the Trust's website cuct.org.uk. Volunteer work parties appear on the Churnet Valley Guide Calendar.
