New Countryside Stewardship Woodland Grants Available

Applications for environmental land management funding are in full swing, following the launch of the main components of the Countryside Stewardship scheme this month. The government scheme pays landowners and land managers to carry out projects that help the environment.

CVLLP is working with woodland owners in the Churnet Valley who want to make use of Countryside Stewardship funding. Woodlands are a high priority for the scheme. CVLLP is providing free help and advice, including handling the paperwork involved in applying for funding. And CVLLP can work closely with woodland owners to help them carry out their projects.  Activities supported by the scheme include tree thinning, fencing to keep grazing animals out of wooded areas, holly control, coppicing, managing open space and removal of rhododendron which is an invasive shrub.

Landowners who are interested in the Countryside Stewardship scheme should contact Tabi Kime, woodland officer at CVLLP, tel 07860 592302 tabi.kime@rspb.org.uk
