The Churnet Valley Living Landscape Partnership and the Staffordshire Milepost Society with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund and Moorlands Partnership and help from the County Highways Department have had a new Bobbin post cast and replaced on the Leek to Ashbourne Road.
With the replacement of this, one, missing post we believe we have recreated the only complete set of bobbin style posts in existence in the country.
John Higgins, local historian and milepost enthusiast said "A few years ago the post was hit by a vehicle and damaged, the damaged iron post then went missing, despite the local newspaper helping with an appeal, nobody came forward with the existing post. But now, thanks to the Living Landscape Partnership, we have a new post and are again the only place in the country where the set is complete."
