We started off in snowy conditions this week constructing a post and rail fence with a Peak District National Park ranger. Some highland cows grazing on the moors had been making a muddy mess around one of the Peak Park's properties but our fence made sure they won't be able to get near it anymore. We began by measuring out the large fence post positions and then digging out deep holes and securing the posts in them using stones found on the site. Smaller posts were driven into the ground using a post-driver and then the rails attached to finish off the job. Everyone worked hard on the job and we were proud of the finished article!
By the time we stopped the sun had a come out and it had warmed up enough to do the paperwork sat outside in the sunshine!
