RSPB Coombes Valley Wild Tuesdays

Venue:
RSPB Coombes Valley

Staff and volunteers at RSPB Coombes Valley nature reserve near Leek are inviting families to join them every Tuesday in August for a series of fun, activity and craft events that will connect children to nature. Each week’s event will have a different theme so families can participate in new activities each time they visit.
1 August - amphibians week
8 August- bugs week
15 August - birds week
22 August- flowers and trees week
29 August- free event celebrating “all things nature” as part of the Play Wild partnership sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund

All sessions will include free pond dipping.

Coombes Valley is the perfect place to enjoy the summer holidays; in addition to the Wild Tuesday activities, guests can explore this magnificent woodland via a natural play trail including a canopy walkway – an excellent way to get closer to the wildlife that calls the valley home. George Bird, RSPB Visitor Experience Intern at Coombes Valley says: “This is a great opportunity for children to learn, and connect with, the amazing wildlife of the Churnet Valley.”

Wild Tuesday events take place each Tuesday in August, 11 am – 3 pm in the nature discovery area which includes a picnic area, craft barn and pond. The area is wheelchair and pushchair accessible. Wild Tuesdays are drop-in events so there’s no need to book – just turn up to join in some, or all of the activities.

The cost is £6 for the first child and then £3 for other children in the same family (RSPB members 20% off) and a free event taking place on 29th August. Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult.
