Discover more about local flora and wildlife, with expert guidance from RSPB staff. The walk will focus on Bellpit Meadows, recently acquired thanks to generous funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Here you will soak up the views, sights and sounds of the meadow and surrounding woodlands while learning about the rich heritage of this landscape. English wildflowers are enjoying a renaissance with garden designers. Many of the gardens at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show featured plantings. This year also marks the 35th anniversary of the wildflower meadow at Highgrove, planted by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1982, part of his ongoing work to reverse the decline in British wildflower meadows.
Murray Brown, RSPB Visitor Experience Officer said: “Guided walks are a delightful, informal and sociable way of getting out and engaging with wildlife. Connecting with nature is very beneficial for both physical and mental wellbeing. I’m sure the walk will be fun as well as informative.”
The walk will begin at 1 pm, leaving from Consall Nature Park car park (ST9 0AF). Please arrive 15 minutes before the walk begins. The price is £6 for adults and £3 for children (RSPB members 20% off). Paths can be steep in places and may be muddy, so please wear appropriate footwear. Also, bring binoculars if you have them.
