Our regular Uttoxeter Canal work parties carry out vegetation management and other tasks in the area near to Bridge 70. All tools and equipment will be provided. Volunteers are advised to wear old clothes, stout shoes and to bring waterproofs in case of rain and a packed lunch if staying all day.
No parking is available at the site so please meet at 9.30am at Denstone Village Hall, College Rd, Denstone, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire ST14 5HR for a lift, or meet on site at 10am having made your own way on foot or bicycle. Head down the old railway track for about a mile from either Denstone or Alton. When you see the newly laid section of towpath (on the right is coming from Denstone; left from Alton) go down this to Bridge 70. If we are not in this area, we will be at Crumpwood Weir. Follow the road for a couple of hundred yards and the weir is near to a group of brick buildings on the right (before the second gate.)
This work party is jointly led by the Inland Waterways Association North Staffordshire & South Cheshire Branch and Caldon & Uttoxeter Canals Trust.
